Week 11 Attitude on Money

  • What is your attitude toward money?
I believe that money is good and that it can help myself and others if used in the right way. I think that money can bring out the best and the worst in people. Like in the reading, it said that money makes good men better. It is easier said than done and it is often that people have a good attitude on money and then change their minds for the worse. I think that money should be sought out for personal gain to the extent that you are able to sustain yourself and your family. I think that any other money that you have on top of that should be shared in some way with others. If that means you have a nice house and plenty of food, I think it is best that you invite others over for dinner. That is just an example of one thing that you can do. Of course, there are a lot of people in need who could benefit with just a little money or food. I think that if you are to seek money, it should not be for you and your family to be rich and have the biggest house. I think you should be open-minded and think of others to help rather than just yourself.

  • How can your view of money affect the way you live?
I think that the way that you view money has a strong potential on how you value everything in the world. Just like anything else if you value one thing over another, your time will be dedicated more to that one thing. Your thoughts will be mainly dedicated to that thing. The more you value money the less you value others. If you value others then you may also value money as well to benefit others. If you say that you value others more than money you have to be willing to lose all your money for the sake of the others.

  • What rules are recommended for prospering?
I believe that one of the rules of thumb was to buy low and sell high. The other is not to sleep on your money. In other word's don't let it sit and do nothing.

 Week Three The Decisions on Magdalena Yesil In this last week, we focused particularly a lot on a decision that Magdalena Yesil had to make between choosing jobs. Without getting too deep into the story I learned that it is important to make decisions based on where you might see yourself in the future. In the story, she has two good job options presented to her and she has to decide between one or the other. I thought that she should turn down the higher-paying job to pursue the things that she already enjoyed doing. I think that this story can be interpreted in multiple different ways. I came to my conclusion because I like to envision myself making a similar decision myself. Something that I want to start considering in my decision-making process is whether will it still make me happy five years from now.  Week 4 Launching Leaders I learned from a book called Launching Leaders this week. One thing, in particular, was "the formula." This is a statement found in the book that helps you live a better life. The formula is as follows: Get up early, Work Hard, Get your Education, Find your oil, Mark your mark, and Give Back. I plan on implementing these principles in my personal and professional life.  We also talked about facing our fears. Part of this explained how many successful people often face their fears and fail at them. What makes them successful is the fact that they keep trying. Part of this lesson also talked about how many of us have many fears but the truth is most of what we fear will likely never happen to us. The other thing is that if we do fail we just have to keep going and naturally we can always get back up there is never a lost situation.
